Research Narrative:

My academic focus is global surgery with a particular interest in capacity building to increase delivery of safe surgical services in sub-Saharan Africa. The research projects are rather buried. Current projects:

1) A randomized controlled trial to assess the utility of a mobile health app for identifying surgical site infections in rural communities in Rwanda.

2) Non-technical skills for surgeons in low income settings curriculum was developed using a qualitative research framework. Now, efforts for scaling the training program across Rwanda, Tanzania, and Ethiopia are beginning. Research endeavors will be to assess effectiveness and impact.
