Research Narrative:

My research resolves around MRI-guided surgery and intervention. The major component of my research is in MRI-guided cardiac electrophysiology, where I work on devices and methods to perform MRI-guided ablation of arrhythmia, in collaboration with BWH and JHU cardiology.  I also work on MRI methods for the localization and treatment of extra-dural spinal pain, in collaboration with BWH orthopedic surgery, as well as with MGH and BWH radiology. My third field of interest is MRI-guided diagnosis and radiation-therapy of pelvic (prostate, cervical) tumors, where I collaborate with BWH radiation oncology and radiology.  I have strong academic collaborations with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Stanford University and University of Georgia on the design and construction of MRI-compatible surgical/interventional devices and with a number of MRI and catheter equipment vendors. I also function as the director of engineering physics for the BWH department of radiology and direct the physics support for the AMIGO image-guided operating room.
